Done-In-A-Day Projects
These are hands-on projects completed in a single day, and provide an opportunity for our members to partner with other organizations to make a lasting change with immediate and tangible results. Each League year our goal is to complete 6-8 Done-In-A-Day Projects.
In 2009-2010 our projects included:
- Participation in the 2009 United Way Day of Caring cleaning and painting at the Early Childhood Alliance Center
- An "Extreme Makeover" of two recovery rooms at Transitions, one of our Women's Independence Project partners, in partnership with Jack Laurie Flooring
- Collecting powered milk for the Wellspring Food Bank at each of our monthly General Membership Meetings
- Organizing and throwing a Christmas Party for the women and children of Fort Wayne Rescue Ministries’ Charis House
- Once a month distributing food at the Wellspring Interfaith Social Services Food Bank
- Painting classrooms and restrooms at the Early Childhood Alliance Center
- Landscaping and creating box gardens at Hope House, one of our Women's Independence Project partners, in partnership with Bruce Ewing Landscaping and Hagerman Construction
