Community Partnerships
New Member Class Project
Each year our New Member Class completes a community project. The 2007-2008 Class partnered with the Literacy Alliance and Habitat for Humanity to provide a Family Home Library in a bookcase for each family moving into a Habitat home in 2008.
The New Members conducted new and gently used book drives, built bookcases, and wrote letters to corporations to solicit funding for the project. It is anticipated that 15 families will enjoy the in-home resource and educational benefits of the libraries built by JLFW members for their new Habitat Homes in 2008.
Working together as a team on such worthwhile projects is an important part of the first year as a New Member of the Junior League of Fort Wayne.
